The AIDS Foundation of Chicago celebrated its 25th anniversary this past Saturday at the Hilton Chicago. The evening included raffling a trip to Bejing, China; a three-course meal; and a silent auction. During the dinner Volunteer of the Year Award winner Lori Kaufman said, "We used to prepare people to die and now we prepare them to live. Every nine to 12 minutes someone is diagnosed with AIDS. We will keep fighting the fight."
The all-female rock group The Bangles topped off the night with a concert, encore. Afterwards, partygoers danced until dawn.
The gala raised more than $500,000 this year. In addition, almost 1,000 guests attended the event, with an additional 124 staff and volunteers as well.
